Olson Resigns as Director of Weidner School of Inquiry

June 5, 2013

06/06/13 The Plymouth School Board officially approved naming Mike Delp and Jennifer Felke as Co-Directors of the Weidner School of Inquiry. The New Tech School, project based learning, is located within Plymouth High School. Both Delp and Felke were teachers in the Weidner School during the 2012-2013 school year.

In the first year of the school, approximately 100 freshmen were enrolled. Plans are to add 100 freshmen each year until the enrollment reaches 400.

Renovations to the space dedicated to the Weidner School were completed this year. The two-story facility has several classrooms and common areas for collaboration as well as group presentation areas.

After the meeting, Delp said, “We ask the kids to be leaders and now Jennifer and I are taking on a leadership role.” Felke agreed saying, “We are all a team. All of the teachers here are dedicated to success.”

Delp and Felke were especially pleased that the teachers within the school help select them as co-directors.

Ken Olson, who is stepping down as the Director of the Weidner School of Inquiry will return to his former position as Dean of Students for PHS.
