Knitting Demo at Miller’s

July 31, 2011

08/01/11 Jodi Kallenberg of The Yarn Loft in Plymouth was a guest speaker at Miller’s Senior Living Community recently.  She and Carson Pifer brought many samples of yarn, patterns and needles for everyone to look at and touch.  Kallenberg, partners with Holli Shorter-Pifer and The Yarn Loft is located on the second floor of Pifer’s law office located at 214 W. Washington St. in Plymouth.  Because of the steps involved Kallenberg agreed to bring samples to the residents of Miller’s and has also offered classes to be held at the facility as well.

Kallenberg has a wide variety of the newest yarns and fiber trends in knitting.  She pointed out that this yarn is for crocheting, too.  The yarns may be used for any project a crafter would like to try.  The Yarn Loft offers beginning and advanced classes as well as finishing services for those who don’t’ enjoy that part of their project.

“I’m the ‘finisher’,”   stated Kallenberg.  “If I start a project I work it to completion and I encourage others to do the same.  However, if you are a person who doesn’t enjoy that part of the project, you can bring your project to the shop and we will put it together, block it and finish it for you.”

One popular yarn item Kallenberg showed to the group was the “self-striping” yarn.  No matter how big or small the project it will end up with stripes without  the crafter having to “figure it out”.  This particular yarn is great for socks, scarves, sweaters or anything you want striped.

Kallenberg and Pifer are committed to helping the Marshall County community with all their yarn and needle arts needs.  Anyone needing help finding a particular yarn, or needle item or anyone needing help on a project should call the Yarn Loft at 574-935-YARN (9276).  Any person who would like to take knitting or crocheting class but cannot climb the stairs at The Yarn Loft should call Kallenberg or Cindy Flagg (574-936-9801) at Miller’s Senior Living and try to coordinate a class time at Miller’s.
