Kreighbaum Lake Property Owner Paying for Water

October 23, 2013

10/24/13 A local resident is paying a lot for water.

Jean Klinedinst bought property on the Kreighbaum Lake three years ago and exploring the high rate of taxes discovered the land she owns also includes the lake bed. Of the 23 acres she and her husband own18 acres of that are actually in the lake.

“We are actually paying taxes on water,” she told the Marshall County Commissioners hoping for a resolution to the matter.

A survey was done on the parcels in 2002 that cut off at the lake shore but the deed for the properties actually gives ownership of the lake bed to Klinedinst.

Klinedinst would like to deed the “lake” property to Marshall County and will work with Marshall County Attorney Jim Clevenger on a solution to her problem.
