11/02/11 Indiana State Police Superintendent Paul Whitesell, Ph.D., recently announced the promotion of Senior Trooper Ryan Lebo to the rank of sergeant to serve as the squad leader for troopers that work in Marshall County. The Bremen Post covers Marshall, Kosciusko, St. Joseph, and Elkhart Counties. Sergeant Lebo earned this promotion through written testing and a competitive interview process.
Lebo is a native of Logansport, Indiana and graduated from Logansport High School. After graduation he continued his education at Indiana State University in Terre Haute where he earned a bachelor’s degree. Lebo is a 12-year veteran of the department and has worked at both the Lafayette and Bremen Posts since graduating from the Indiana State Police Academy in 1999.
During his tenure with the department, Lebo worked as a trooper locally in Marshall County before being certified as a K9 officer for the department in 2007. He has also been a Field Training Officer, a member of the Tactical Intervention Platoon, and a radar and VASCAR instructor for the past ten years. In addition, Lebo continues to serve on the USRT (Underwater Search Rescue Team) as he has since 2001. In 2010 Lebo was presented with a Life Saving Award for his heroic action in December, 2008 when he pulled Gayton Marks, 35, of Niles, Michigan out the flood swollen Yellow River.
Lebo lives in Marshall County with his wife Megan and their two boys Brody and Parker.
