Bailey Arrested for Neglect of a Child

07/21/14 On Wednesday, July 16th at 3:55 P.M. Officer Gary Cleveland with the Plymouth Police Department responded to 709 North Center Street after a home visitor from Marshall Starke Development Center found a 2 year old unattended in the house. The child opened the door for the worker and no parent responded to loud verbal announcement of her presence.
Officer Cleveland located 29 year old Jesse Bailey asleep upstairs in a bedroom with the door closed. The child’s mother said that she had left the child with the father around 2:30 P.M. Child Protective Services was notified and temporarily placed the child with the Maternal Grandmother.
Mr. Bailey was taken into custody for neglect of a child and was transported to the Marshall County Jail and held on a $1,500 bond.

On Thursday, July 17th at 9:06 P.M. Plymouth Police Officer Shanna Gilmer initiated a traffic stop in the 14,000 block of Lincoln Highway on 33 year old Levi W. Wallin of Grovertown. During the course of the investigation it was found that Mr. Wallin was wanted on an active warrant out of Elkhart County. He was taken into custody and held at the Marshall County Jail without bond for Elkhart County.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
