Congresswoman Jackie Walorski (IN-02) congratulated seven individuals from Northern Indiana who received service academy nominations from her office.
“It is a true honor to nominate these exceptional young men for admission to our highly-competitive service academies,” Walorski said. “They are all impressive and went through a challenging selection process, demonstrating their academic excellence in the classroom, participation in extracurricular activities, and their outstanding community involvement.Each of them will represent Indiana with distinction, and as a member of the House Armed Services Committee, I commend their strong desire to serve our country.”
Luke Michael Schumacher, a senior at Plymouth High School received an appointment from the U.S. Air Force Academy and Sterling Willman, a Culver resident received an appointment from the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, NY.
Other nominees include Paul Michael Byszewski, a South Bend resident, has received an appointment from the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO.
Zachary Davis, a Granger resident, has accepted an appointment from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, where he will attend in the Fall of 2014. Davis also received an appointment from the U.S. Air Force Academy.
Sean Gerard Hall, a Granger resident, has accepted an appointment from the U.S. Air Force Academy, where he will attend in the Fall of 2014.
Connor McGuire, a Granger resident, has received an appointment from the U.S. Naval Academy.
Christian Wittendorf, a Granger resident, has accepted an appointment from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY, where he will attend in the Fall of 2014.
Every Member of Congress has the privilege of nominating a limited number of constituents to the United States service academies. The honor of attending a service academy comes with a commitment to serve in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation. Service academies have not yet completed their appointment offers, which can be made up until initial training begins.
