06/13/11 Plymouth F.O.P. Lodge 195 was proud to help the M.A.D. (Multi Agency Drug) Unit with the purchase of HOT SPOT CARDS.
Almost two years ago David Parnell from Tennessee spoke to citizens concerned with the meth epidemic in Marshall County. Mayor Mark Senter, as part of his Anti-Meth Program invited Parnell to come and speak of his own experiences. Once an active meth user, he attempted suicide but instead of killing himself he blew off have his face with a gun. He is now an active motivational speaker. One of the issues that drugs bring to a community is for the police to know what is going on where. Parnell talked about HOT SPOT CARDS.
The HOT SPOT CARDS are self-addressed, self-paid postcards that will be available at a variety of locations around the county. A complete list is not yet available but your will be able to find them at gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants, schools, M.C. Health Department and Probation Department and more locations. The HOT SPOT CARD is a way for a concerned citizen to let police agencies know what’s happening in their neighborhoods without giving your name.
The new HOT SPOT CARD ask for the address of the suspected drug activity, a description of the suspect, vehicle information if possible, type of suspicious activity and what activity the citizen thinks is happening including: alcohol, cocaine, crack, heroine, marijuana, methamphetamine, prescription drugs and others.
Once a card is filled out and mailed in, it will be delivered to the M.A.D. Unit for consideration. Officers will disperse information to the police agency covering the address in question for further investigation. The HOT SPOT CARD is one step in case building and won’t result in immediate action.
HOT SPOT CARDS are a joint effort of the Marshall County Local Coordinating Council for a Drug Free Indiana, the M.A.D. (Multi Agency Drug) Unit and Plymouth F.O.P. 195.
