08/04/11 Jennifer Maddox, who recently left the top positions after four years with both the Marshall County Community Foundation and United Way of Marshall County, is known for her ability to meet challenges head on. Now she will have yet another opportunity to share her organizational skills with the Community Foundation of Northeast Alabama. She has accepted a position as President and CEO of the foundation located in Anniston, Alabama.
In her new duties, she will head up the foundation that serves nine counties in the northeast section of the state. The philanthropic resource is comprised of 110 funds totaling more than $25 million. The foundation was first created in 1999 as the result of the long-term lease ofStringfellowHospital. Since that time, they have distributed more that $12million in grants and scholarships.
The top priorities of her position will be to expand and manage the foundation’s relationships with professional advisors, community leaders, nonprofit agencies and donors. Maddox said she has been given the task of growing the foundation into other counties as well as growing different types of funds.
Maddox said she and husband Mark Stevens intend to be relocated to theAnnistonarea by September 1. Her first day on the new job will be September 6.
Maddox said they are not unaccustomed to living in the south since they spent 12 years inHouston,Texas. Both Maddox and Stevens are motorcycle enthusiasts and are looking forward to riding around the foothills of theAppalachian Mountainsthat are nearAnniston.
