Drainage Approves Variance for Farm Innovators New Facility

February 17, 2015

Farm InnovatorsFarm Innovators on Walter Glaub Drive in Plymouth will be expanding their operation with Monday’s approval by the County Drainage Board.

Ben Clark told the drainage board the company recently purchased the property at 1850 Walter Glaub Drive, the former welfare office.  They plan to build a 36,000 square foot building perpendicular to Walter Glaub Drive. Clark said, “With the current flood plain limitations we need a variance on the setback requirements on the north and west side of the property.”

Clark said they will most likely demo the building “because it is full of mold.”  The new building would be for new manufacturing and warehouse.

County Surveyor Larry Fisher said there are two regulated drains on the property.  On the north side the Newcomb-Eisenhour Ditch is an open drain and along the west side is the PIDCO arm, a 30 inch underground pipe.    Fisher suggested reducing the setback to 20 feet for the pipe and 40 feet from the top of the open ditch instead of the standard 75 feet and the drainage board approved.
