3 Arrested for Meth on 14B Road

September 18, 2013

09/19/13  On Tuesday, September 17th at approximately 10:30 a.m. Marshall County Deputy Ryan Hollopeter conducted a traffic stop in the area of the 16,000 block of 14B Road. Assisting Deputy Hollopeter was Deputies Les McFarland and Jonathan Bryant. An investigation into the traffic stop led officers to locate evidence for the manufacturing of methamphetamine.

The Indiana State Police Clandestine Team was contacted in reference to hazardous materials used in manufacturing methamphetamine being located inside the vehicle.

During the cleanup of the hazardous materials, a possible explosive device was located inside the vehicle.  The South Bend Police Department Bomb Squad was requested to the scene to assist and identify the possible explosive.  It was later determined by the Bomb Squad that the device was not an actual explosive device, but instead it was manufactured to look like an explosive device.  According to bomb squad personnel the device looked real enough and that it was better to be safe in this situation.

After a lengthy investigation that lasted most of the day, the Marshall County Police Department arrested the three subjects in the vehicle:

35 year old Cassidy Quimby of Argos,

30 year old Johanna Elder of Plymouth and

27 year old Gary Beatty of Plymouth for Possession of Methamphetamine as a class D felony and Manufacturing Methamphetamine as a class B felony.  They were held with no bond.
