4 Injured in Crash at Michigan Road & 19th Road

September 11, 2012

09/12/12  Monday evening at 7:41 County Police Officers were dispatched to a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Michigan Road and 19th Road, south of Argos.

Patrolman Rob Hafke with the Sheriff’s Department responded to the incident.   Arriving on the scene he found a red 1996 Ford F250 on its side in the middle of the roadway.  The second vehicle, a 2002 Chevy Monte Carlo was well off the roadway on the southeast side of the intersection in a ditch.

Officer Hafke’s report indicates that 34 year old Neal D. Hite of Argos was east bound on 19th Road in his pick-up truck.  He had stopped at the intersection with Michigan Road and failed to observe a tan Chevy Monte Carlo driven by 28 year old Hector A. Fernandez III of Rochester who was southbound on Michigan Road. The pick-up was struck in the driver’s side.  The impact caused the truck to roll onto the driver’s side and the car to veer off the roadway.

Neal Hite, the pick-up truck driver and his 8 year old son were transported to Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth with shoulder pain by a family member. The front seat passenger of Mr. Fernandez’s vehicle, Victor L. Coplen was transported to Woodlawn Hospital in Rochester for treatment and was later released.   The rear seat passenger in the Monte Carlo, Brandi Wolfe transported to Rochester Hospital and airlifted to Fort Wayne Hospital for head injuries.

Officer Hafke was assisted at the scene by other County Police officers, Argos Police, Fire and EMS and Fulton County EMS.
