08/27/12 State Treasurer and U.S. Senate candidate Richard Mourdock today accepted the endorsement of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce.
“I am proud to accept the endorsement of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce,” said Mourdock. “Four years of tax and regulatory burdens imposed by President Obama have taken a toll on Indiana’s business owners, and I look forward to working with them as their next U.S. Senator to ensure a friendlier business climate in Washington, DC, which will allow them to create more good-paying jobs.”
Following a tour of Subaru’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Lafayette, Indiana, Mourdock outlined three critical areas of great importance to heavy manufacturers and pledged his best efforts to fight for changes that would help Subaru and other manufacturers and business owners:
• Lower taxes and simplify the federal tax code. US corporate income taxes are some of the highest and most complex in the world. Reducing and simplifying the tax code must be a top priority in the next Congress.
• Reduce burdensome and unnecessary regulation. New air quality, environmental, transportation regulations and proposed rules are heavy handed, ignore sound science and kill job creation opportunities.
• Repeal and Replace ObamaCare. ObamaCare is killing Hoosier jobs. It is time we repeal and replace it immediately with job-friendly, market-oriented reforms that will reduce the cost of health care and give employers, employees and their doctors more choices and more authority to manage health care.
“I am excited to be here today talking about how to create more jobs for Hoosiers and all Americans, and I’m proud that organizations like the Chamber are working with me to make these critical jobs initiatives a reality,” said Mourdock. “The employees at Subaru represent the best of our American workforce, and they deserve a U.S. Senator who will go to Washington, DC, and fight for them – not bigger government.”
In an August 21 letter to Mourdock announcing the organization’s support, Indiana Chamber President and CEO Kevin Brinegar said, “Your strong support for the free enterprise system and economic issues is very important and needed in Congress. Your service as state treasurer has been distinguished and accomplished in positioning our state on strong fiscal grounds. Further, your thirty years of private sector experience in energy and related issues will bring an important perspective and focus of particular importance to our state and nation.”
The Indiana Chamber of Commerce joins the U.S. Chamber, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) and Business-Industry PAC (Bi-PAC) in supporting Richard Mourdock.
