12/07/10 On Saturday, December 11, 2010 the Marshall County Museum will be hosting a book signing from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. featuring Amy Wenger author of Marshall County Indiana: A Brief History; Jan Shupert-Arick, author of The Lincoln Highway Across Indiana; and Will Erwin, author of Angus, Two Clouds, and Sapling in the Brambles. Celebrate Christmas at the museum and come to meet the local authors. Books will be available for purchase so you can pick up a great gift for the holidays. Amy Wenger is a professional freelance writer and contributes feature stories and articles of historical significance to several publications. In 2004 Amy was given an award for historic preservation education by the Nappanee Historic Preservation Commission. She has two other books on regional history: one focusing on Elkhart, Indiana and the other on southwestern Elkhart County.
In her book, Wenger focuses on each Marshall County town and chronicles the history of its rich Native American heritage, the perseverance of its frontier fathers, and accounts of its budding industrial and agricultural endeavors.
Jan Shupert-Arick is a public historian, an active preservationist, and a past president of the Lincoln Highway Association. She has personally toured the original route of the Lincoln Highway across 10 of the 13 original Lincoln Highway states and has family connections to Indiana’s early automotive history.
Shupert-Arick’s book explores Indiana’s unique role in the Lincoln Highway and celebrates the history of the neighborhoods, towns, and cities that lie along its route. Using archival photographs, each section presents distinctive stories from the past that shape the character of the community today.
A life-long farmer and public servant, Will Erwin served as a state senator, Assistant Secretary of Agriculture, and noted public speaker. Will Erwin’s fiction books are rich in historical detail with compelling stories and engaging characters drawn from family history told to his grandchildren.
