Plymouth Man Shoots Shelf In-front of Police

04/05/11 On Monday April 4th at approximately 1:30 p.m. the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department received a call from a resident in the 5000 block of Union Road.  The caller reported that her neighbor was at her house with blood on her.  The female also stated that her husband had a gun.

When county police officers arrived at the house the husband was waiting for them. The husband, identified as John Nemeth came outside with a hand gun.   While standing in his front yard at 5823 Nemeth shot himself in the head. Walkerton EMS was on scene and transported Mr. Nemeth to Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say there were an impending divorce proceedings taking place and the wife was not living in the home at the time.

Assisting at the scene was Chief Gary Layer of the Walkerton P. D. who responded to assist Marshall County Police Department and Walkerton EMS.
