Park’s July Bus Trip to Fair Oaks Dairy

July 7, 2012

07/09/12 The Plymouth Park Department will take its monthly park bus trip on July 23rd to family owned, Fair Oaks Dairy Farm south of Merrillville just off Highway 65 in Fair Oaks, IN.

The  beauty of Fair Oaks Farms is that they’ve truly got a little something for everybody – from the great-tasting grilled cheese sandwiches in the cafe, to the games and attractions for the kids in Mooville, to the hands on interactive educational activities in the Dairy Adventure™, the Fair Oaks Dairy is Northwest Indiana’s attraction that promises to keep every member of the family well-fed and entertained.

The farm milks 30,000 cows three times a day which creates four million glasses of milk being produced daily.   Visitors have the opportunity to see the live birth of a calf with 80 calves being born every day.

The bus will depart from the Plymouth pool at 8:30 am on Monday, July 23rd and return around 2:30 pm.  The cost for the bus is $3 for Plymouth residents and $5 for non-residents. The tour will take an in-depth look at the dairy production process from start to finish. Admission for the tour is $10 for adults, $8 for children, and $4 for seniors 55 and over.  This is a trip the whole family can enjoy and can end with a world famous grilled cheese from the cafe. Sign up at the park office or contact Scott Michel for more information at 936-7255.
