KIWANIS PEANUT DAYS A BIG SUCCESS

May 29, 2014

The Plymouth Chapter of Kiwanis was able to raise over $4,200 in donations earlier this month during their annual Peanut Days fundraiser.

42 members, including 5 from the PHS Key Club, of the local civic organization were out in force at the intersection of Jefferson and Michigan last weekend asking for donations from drivers in exchange for a bag of peanuts.  Kiwanians were also at the entrance of Kroger’s and Wal-Mart.

Peanut Committee Chairman Tom Sibal said “Mother Nature was a bit cruel to us this year with wind, cold rain and some sleet. Despite the cold and wet weather we did very well this year and I really appreciate all the gifts from the community and the help of Key Club to make it possible.”

Funds raised from this event stay entirely local and provide money for Kiwanis to award scholarships to Plymouth and Argos High School students as well as a variety of other charitable causes such as the local Boys and Girls Club.

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and once community at a time. The Plymouth Kiwanis meet each Tuesday at noon at Christo’s Banquet Center in Plymouth and interested new members are always welcome. For more information contact Tom Sibal at 935-8442.
