01/19/11 Beginning January, 2011, a Pet Friendly license plate will be available for purchase by visiting www.GetThemFixed.org, with portions of every purchase benefitting Spay-Neuter Services of Indiana (SNSI) programs.
The money received from license plate sales will help fund SNSI’s Spay-Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP). SNAP subsidizes spay/neuter surgeries for low-income Indiana residents. In addition, proceeds will be used to pay for spay/neuter surgeries for other animal welfare organizations in Indiana.
Like most specialty plates, the Pet Friendly plate costs $40.00, with $25.00 going directly to SNSI’s SNAP fund.
“We are giddy with excitement about the release of the Pet Friendly license plate. It’s a great way to show off your love for dogs and cats, as well as curb Indiana’s pet overpopulation,” said SNSI President, Juli Erhart-Graves.
Since its formation in 1977, SNSI has raised funds to provide over 62,000 spay/neuter surgeries in Indiana.
The mission of Spay-Neuter Services of Indiana, Inc. (SNSI) is to eliminate the killing of healthy and treatable cats, dogs, puppies and kittens. SNSI will accomplish this by providing spay/neuter surgical fee assistance through partnerships with private practice veterinarians and low-cost clinics, collaborating with other animal welfare groups, and promoting humane education.
Founded in 1977, SNSI has provided assistance for over 62,000 spay/neuter surgeries. There are approximately 77.5 million owned dogs and approximately 93.6 million owned cats in the United States . In seven years, one female cat and her offspring can theoretically produce 420,000 cats. In six years, one female dog and her offspring can theoretically produce 67,000 dogs (statistics by The Humane Society of the United States and American Pet Products Manufacturers Association 2009-2010 National Pet Owners Survey).
