Passinger Airlifted Following Crash

April 12, 2012

04/13/12 Plymouth Police responded to a two vehicle accident with injuries Wednesday evening about 5:15 at the corner of North Plum and Harrison Streets.

Officer Shanna Gilmer was the investigating officer.

42 year old Carolina Mendez of Plymouth was traveling east on Harrison Street in a SUV.  She had the right-of-way but 40 year old Cory T. Berger of Merrillville failed to yield the right of way to Mendez.

The impact of the crash forced the Mendez vehicle to crash into the front deck on the north east corner of the intersection.

Two passengers in the Mendez vehicle were injured with one being transferred to Memorial Hospital in South Bend by helicopter.

Cory Berger was taken to Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth for a chemical test.  He was then booked into the Marshall County Jail for Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance.

His $1,500 cash bond was paid at midnight and he was released.  Berger is scheduled to appear in Marshall Superior Court II on April 24th.
