New Principal at LaVille Jr.-Sr. High

July 12, 2012

07/12/12 New LaVille Jr.-Sr. High School Principal, Jeremy Tucker, isn’t wasting any time getting started on the goals he has set for himself and the school. Tucker replaces Chuck Phillips who was appointed Director of Operations for the Union-North United School Corporation.

Tucker comes to LaVille from South Bend Washington High School where he had served as the assistant principal since July 2009.

Tucker said his first goal is to provide a safe and nurturing environment for both the students and staff. He said, “My second goal is to help increase test scores.” Tucker said he wants to have a visual-open line of communication for all stake-holders throughout the entire school year.

Tucker said he appreciates the opportunity to work in a smaller school, especially in a rural setting. He said, “In a smaller school size, you get to know the students and staff on a more personal basis.” Tim Pletcher, South Bend Washington High School English Department Chair, said, “Mr. Tucker is an affable and supportive leader. He is the type of administrator who easily and readily interacts with students and teachers alike.”

Prior to going to the South Bend Washington, Tucker was the School Leader at a charter school , Dr. Robert H. Fuller Academy, in Marion, IN; Principal of Oregon-Davis Elementary, Hamlet, IN; Assistant Principal at North Judson-San Pierre School Corporation, North Judson; and teacher/coach at both Mississinewa Community Schools, Gas City, IN and South Adams Community Schools, Berne, IN.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Taylor University in 1998 and a Masters of Science degree from Indiana University in 2004. He also completed courses at the Indiana Principals Leadership Academy.

Tucker and his wife make their home in the Culver area with a daughter who will be a junior at LaVille and son who will be a freshman at Oregon-Davis in the fall.
