Miller’s Annual Red & Green Party

December 26, 2011

12/27/11 Staff and volunteers of Miller’s Senior Living Community held their annual Red & Green Party for the residents on Friday, Dec. 23 at 2:00 p.m. in the Oak Hill Café.   The Red & Green Party has become a tradition that grows a little bit bigger each year.

Under the direction of Activity Director Cindy Flagg the staff and volunteers bring in homemade desserts for the party.  The party began this year with Volunteer Zelma Saxton performing a skit to the 1949 hit song “Mule Train” by Frankie Laine.

Following the skit residents lined up for judging in the red and green contest.  Winners were:  Claire Amor , Most Red; Marcy Sickmiller, Most Green; and Gladys Umbaugh, Most Red and Green Combination.  The staff and volunteers were judged together.  Winners were :  Lana Alexander (staff), Most Red; Autumn Wilson (volunteer), Most Green; and Mary Stites (staff), Most Red and Green Combination.

Secret Santa gifts were traded and opened.  While desserts were being enjoyed members of the Laville FFA organization made a surprise visit and gave gift bags filled with useful items to all the residents.  FFA leader Cyndy Keeling and members Katie Berger, Amanda Carblener and Logan Jones also took time to visit with the residents.

Staff and residents look forward to the annual party because it is a time when staff can sit and talk with residents and they can enjoy each other’s company.
