LaPaz Man Refuses Treatment After Crash

  08/29/12  On Friday afternoon August 25th about 1:45 the Marshall County Police Department responded to a vehicle vs. motorcycle accident on Olive Road.  Lyra Skinner 23, of Marion, IN was traveling south bound on Olive Road approaching 11thRoad and activated her signal to turn west.  Just prior to turning west she stated that she quickly changed her signal to turn east onto 11th Road. Skinner said she was unaware that a 1997 Harley Davidson driven by Ricky Holderman 52, of LaPaz was in the process of overtaking her vehicle, and the motorcycle collided with the rear driver’s side of Skinners 2003 Saturn.

Holderman stated that he was driving his motorcycle southbound on Olive Road approaching 11thRoad and Skinner at that time had her signal activated to turn west onto 11th Road. In his process of overtaking the Saturn, Skinner directed her car into Holderman’s path of travel to turn east onto 11th Road. Holderman stated that he tried to avoid the collision but was unable to and struck the rear of the Saturn. Holderman had lacerations to his left arm, but left the scene prior to law enforcement arrival refusing to be tended to by EMS already on scene.
