04/30/13 The Ancilla College Lady Charger Volleyball Program recently signed Plymouth standout Amber Redinger for the 2013/2014 Volleyball Season. Amber is the daughter of Charlie and Kelly Redinger and has lettered all 4 years in both Volleyball and Basketball at Plymouth High School.
Redinger, a 6’0” Middle will graduate from PHS having earned 10 Varsity Letters and many accolades to go along with that. Redinger earned Offensive MVP Award 2 years in Volleyball and was 1st Team All-Conference her senior year, and Honorable Mention All-Conference her Junior Year. She was also Team Captain. In Basketball, Amber was 1st Team All-Conference 2 years, Received the Rebound Award and Highest Field Goal Percentage 3 years, was an Indiana All State Honorable Mention Recipient, a MAC Award Winner (Mental Attitude and Courage), a Bethel McDonald All Star Player, and Captain of PHS girls’ basketball team 2 years.
Plymouth High School Varsity Volleyball Coach Doug West praised Redinger saying “Amber is an excellent volleyball player…especially skilled at the net. She will be a great asset at Ancilla College and in the Ancilla College Volleyball Program.” Ancilla College Head Coach Lana Singleton agrees, “Amber’s statistics the last two years speak volumes to how she can contribute. In her Junior and Senior Year, Amber compiled 543 Kills and 217 Blocks. These are huge numbers on how she will help us both offensively and defensively at the net. She is easily one of the area’s best middles AND she is a good kid who adores her family and wants to stay close to home. I am excited she will be a Lady Charger.”
Redinger has also been involved in the following clubs all four year of high school: LEAD Club, PEP Club, Varsity Club, Key Club, FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), of which she is Vice President/President. Redinger has also been involved in community service, helping organize the Breast Cancer Fundraiser for Ounce of Prevention, helping organize the Senior Citizen Prom for LEAD Club, and assisting at volleyball and basketball camps for young ladies in the community. Plymouth Volleyball Club Coach Steve Harrell reflected, “Amber is a pleasure to coach, she is a dominate net player both offensively and defensively and is a go to player in pressure situations. The real pleasure though is the FUN that she brings to the gym, it is great to coach a highly competitive player that makes the game fun.” Ancilla College Assistant Coach Walt Pickerell is also excited about coaching Redinger again, he states,” I had the opportunity to coach Amber at PHS at the Varsity level her Freshman and Sophomore year, and now I will have the opportunity to help coach her at the college level. Amber is always positive and works hard; she is a joy to coach!”
Redinger plans to start out in General Studies and said “I feel comfortable at Ancilla, I like the small school environment and everyone seems to be really friendly.”
Ancilla College enrolls 500 students in 17 degree programs ranging from accounting to nursing. It was founded by the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ in 1937, and is located 2 miles south of US 30 on Union Road near Plymouth.
