The 15th annual Ancilla College Golf Tournament teed off on Monday at the Plymouth Country Club, with 40 teams taking part in the festivities to help raise money for the school.

The tournament, which followed a four-person Florida scramble format, raised nearly $21,000 for the Annual Fund.  Funds received are pledged to support student grants and scholarships.

“This is the second year in a row we’ve been sold out” said Tom Sibal, Associate Director of Institutional Advancement and organizer of the tournament.  “It’s great to see how many generous supporters we have of Ancilla College in our community who enjoy a great day of golf and fun on the course.”

Those who attended were treated to a dinner and had the opportunity to bid on four tickets to the Notre Dame versus Stanford football game as well as a second pair of tickets for the Notre Dame versus Utah game.

There were also a number raffle items that were given away over the course of the day and everyone took home a door prize thanks to the generous donations of dozens of area businesses.

“This event is the work of college staff, Plymouth Country Club staff and countless volunteers,” said Dr. Ron May, Ancilla College President.  “Our students are the prime beneficiaries of all these efforts.  The students, with this financial support, are able to have access to an Ancilla education.  Through them our community is improved.

“That is our ultimate goal in all that we do.  We cannot reach that goal without the financial support provided to the college through this event and on other occasions.”

Contributing sponsors included 1st Source Bank, Fiduciary Management, Inc., Lake City Bank, Starke County Economic Development Foundation, and Town and Country Press.  Hoosier Catering provided lunch for all involved.

Lake City Bank’s team of Dale Cramer, Mike Burroughs, Greg Renz and Justin Murphy took home the top team honors with a score of 55.

“Once again this year, we were overwhelmed by the tremendous response from businesses and individuals in supporting our golf tournament,” said Todd Zeltwanger, Executive Director of Institutional Advancement at Ancilla College.  “On behalf of the staff, faculty and most importantly, the students, I would like to thank everyone that helped to make the 2010 Ancilla College Golf Tournament a tremendous success and also express my appreciation to all of the wonderful volunteers.”

Ancilla College is a private, two-year, co-educational, liberal arts college sponsored by the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ and located on the grounds of the PHJC Ministry Center, Donaldson, Ind.
