County Receives $172,445 in EMA Grant Money

12/09/11 This week Marshall County EMA Director, Clyde Avery updated the commissioners on the various grants he was able to obtain this year from the Department of Homeland Security.

Marshall County received money and equipment including the Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) which is a 50% reimbursement of Avery’s salary and benefits.  The total was $23,089.00.

The 2010 Competitive EMPG Grant was in the amount of $3,750.00.  These funds were used to purchase two flat panel monitors and Incident Command Vests.

The Marshall County EMA received three different SHSP (State Homeland Security Program) Grants.  One was in the amount of $9,751 and purchased 20 tables for the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) on the second floor of the County Building.  The second grant in the amount of $5,960.00 purchase 40 executive chairs for the EOC.  The third grant purchase a trailer mounted light tower valued at $10,410.

The County EMA also received three different Task Force Grants, one for a 28 foot enclosed trailer at a cost of $8,165.00, Shelters, HVAC and Cots for $75,000.00 and two 10 kilowatt portable generators valued at $4,800.00.

A State Homeland Security Program Grant also purchase a credentialing system for $23,000 and two mobile 800 MHz radios for the Emergency Operations Center for $6,000.00.

The final Indiana Department of Homeland Security Grant purchase 84 all hazard Emergency Alert Radios for $2,520.00.

The total value of money and equipment received in Marshall County in 2011 was $172,445.00.
