Preliminary Toxicology Results on Drowning Victim, Valentin Sirghi

  07/24/13 Marshall County Deputy Coroner Bridget Hite, Tuesday released the preliminary toxicology results performed on the body of 22 year old Valentin Sirghi of Plymouth, who drowned on July 14th  Sirghi had been swimming with a friend at the Culver Town Park public beach at Lake Maxinkuckee on Sunday, July 14th in the evening when for unknown reasons he went under.  His body was located about 45 minutes later and he was transported to Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth where he was pronounced dead.

The preliminary toxicology results indicate no evidence of drugs or alcohol being involved in this incident.  Final results of the autopsy are not expected until early September. 

Dr. Joseph Prahlow, a board certified forensic pathologist, conducted the autopsy a week ago Tuesday. 

Hite said the incident remains under investigation and the coroner’s office is assisting lean investigator, Officer Jonathan Boyd, of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.   The Indiana DNR has primary jurisdiction over all water related accidents and deaths occurring on all Indiana lakes and waters.
