Special Needs Baseball Camp Offered

May 24, 2013

05/28/13  Plymouth, Indiana has many great youth sports activities for kids year around.  However the opportunities for children with special needs are very limited.  The Plymouth Junior League Baseball program and Coach Bob Caban and the Plymouth High School Pilgrims Baseball Team are teaming up to develop a Special Needs Baseball Skills Camp.

The Special Needs Baseball Camp will be held on Saturday, June 15th from 10 A.M. to 12 P.M. at the C League diamond east of the pool in Centennial Park in Plymouth.

The goal of the camp will be to teach baseball skills to children with disabilities from ages 6 to 12.  Campers will gain the confidence to practice hitting, fielding, catching fly balls and more during personal instruction with the coaches and their peer buddies.

The goals of this program are to promote acceptance and inclusion, improve the health and fitness of those with disabilities and provide young athletes an outlet to give back to their community while developing mentoring skills.  Campers get to experience the opportunity to play, learn and be a part of a great recreational team sport like baseball.  All kids need to be a part of a team.  Campers who preregister at the Centennial Park Office will receive a t-shirt.

Campers are asked to register by Friday, May 31st at the Centennial Park Office located at 1660 North Michigan Street or Email : parks@plymouthin.com.  There is no cost for this camp, but they will be taking donations for Freedom Park an all-inclusive playground.
