Nappanee Man Slightly Injured in Semi Roll-over

March 28, 2012

03/29/12 County Police Officer Nick Laffoon investigated a single vehicle accident on State Road 331 south of 13th Trail about 8:30 Tuesday morning that sent a Nappanee man to the hospital.

64 year old Jack L. Hart of Nappanee was driving a 1999 Peterbuilt Semi, traveling south on State Road 331, just leaving the town of Bourbon and pulling a trailer with approximately 170 live hogs.

The semi ran off the west side of State Road 331, came back on the road, then overturned sliding back off to the west side of 331.

Mr. Hart was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital for minor injuries and was released later in the day.

At the accident scene a make shift pen was erected to contain the hogs and several local citizens helped to round up the loose hogs and transport them from the area.

The Marshall County Police Department was assisted by Bourbon Fire, Bourbon EMS, and Bourbon Police.  INDOT also responded to the scene and assisted with traffic on S.R. 331 during the incident.
