7 Injured in Sunday Crash

06/21/11 Sunday afternoon at approximately 12:40 the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department obtained a 9-1-1 call in reference to a multi vehicle accident in the area of State Road 331 and 19th Road.

Officers from the Bourbon Police, Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and the Indiana State Police responded and assisted at the scene.

Deputy Les McFarland investigated the crash that involved two vehicles and an Amish horse and buggy.  The crash occurred when 17 year old Darian J. Scott of Tippecanoe was traveling north on 331 attempting to pass an Amish Buggy when he collided with a south bound vehicle driven by Karen D Yeazel of Akron.

There were 7 in the two vehicles were injured in the crash.  Scott and a young child in his vehicle were treated at the scene and transported to the hospital for examination.  Yeazel had four children in her vehicle that were also injured.  A 6 year old male was air lifted from the Tippecanoe Fire Department to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.

Scott was ticketed for reckless driving.

Bourbon Fire Department, Tippecanoe Fire Department, Multi-Township EMS, Mentone EMS, and Four-way EMS assisted at the scene and treated and transported the injured from the accident scene to the hospital.
