Juveniles Steal 3 Vehicles in Bremen

  05/18/12 On Thursday, May 17th about 5:25a.m. the Bremen Police Department received a report that a car had just been stolen in the area of Mill and Marshall Streets. Upon officer’s arrival Sergeant Kile located and stopped the stolen vehicle and detained the occupant.

At about 5:34am the Bremen Police Department received a second call that another vehicle had been stolen and had wreaked into a fence in the area Mill and Whitlock Streets.  At 5:40a.m. two other suspects were located on foot in the area and detained for questioning.

In conclusion of the investigation it was determined that the suspects stole a Toyota van from South Bend about 3:30a.m. Thursday, side swiped an unknown object damaging the passenger side of the van somewhere between South Bend and Bremen. Once in Bremen the suspects abandoned the van on West Dewey Street west of North Center Street. They then stole a total of three cars in Bremen abandoning one, crashing one and getting caught in one. There were also numerous vehicles ransacked with some reporting mainly money taken from the vehicles. All three suspects are juveniles from South Bend and are being detained at the St. Joseph County Juvenile Justice Center pending Delinquency Petitions being filed.

At this point in the investigation all the vehicles entered and or stolen by the suspects where left unlocked and the keys left inside the vehicles. The Bremen Police Department is asking the Community to please remove the keys from your cars, lock the doors and don’t leave valuables inside.
