Oliver Ford Collecting Toys for PHS Christmas Party for Underprivileged Children

November 27, 2012

11/28/12 Plymouth High School Student Council sponsors an Annual Christmas Party for Underprivileged Children as their December Community Service Project. This party has been going on for at least 29 years at PHS.

The goal is to bring Christmas to children whose families are struggling.  The children who attend the celebration are from the five local elementary schools.  They range in age from 5 to 9.

The PHS Student Council teens plan a day full of activities, crafts, games, food, and entertainment.   Each student council member is assigned a child or two to spend the day with.  The party ends with a special visitor who brings special gifts which have been placed under the tree for the younger children.

Student Council Advisor, Carin Plothow said “This project is a memory making experience not only for the children who attend but also for the PHS Student Council kids!  We have had numerous former members and their parents offer to come back the day of the party and help.  I have had other former members tell me how it inspired them to get involved in similar projects when they went away to college!”

This year Oliver Ford is assisting with the toys that will be distributed during the party.  Anyone who brings in a new toy valued at $20 or more now through December 14th and Oliver Fold will give you a lube, filter and oil change, and car wash for only $15.

The PHS Student Council member’s hard work along with generous donations from the community make this very special event possible.  Plothow said, “We can’t express our thanks for the support we have received!”

The PHS Student Council also sponsors local families who have registered at the Neighborhood Center which include PHS students.
