Pastor of Sunrise Chapel Headed To Liberty University

  06/18/13 Dr. Mark Allen, pastor at Sunrise Chapel in Plymouth, has been selected as the new Chair of the Biblical and Theological Studies Department at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.  He will also serve as an Associate Professor of Biblical Studies.  Liberty is the world’s largest Christian University.  It has a residential enrollment of 12,500 students and an on-line enrollment of more than 80,000.

Dr. Allen graduated this past May from Notre Dame University with a Ph.D. in Theology majoring in Old Testament.   He also has a Doctor of Ministry degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, Massachusetts.   Dr. Allen earned a Master of Theology degree from Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas, and his Bachelor of Arts from Tennessee Temple University in Tennessee. 

Dr. Allen served as pastor at Sunrise Chapel for the past two and a halfyears.  During this time, he has also been an on-line instructor for Liberty University as well as an instructor at Bethel College.   In addition, he has been active locally as Secretary of the Marshall County Ministerial Association and a member of the Plymouth Rotary Club. 

Dr. Allen resides in Mishawaka with his wife, Karen.  They have three children, a son-in-law, and two grandchildren.
