12/14/10 Officials from the Marshall County Police Department announced Monday that a total of 111 citations were issued during the 2010 Safe Family Travel traffic enforcement blitz.
More than 250 state and local law enforcement agencies participated in the 17-day effort, which consisted of increased seat belt and impaired driving patrols from November 12th through the heavily traveled Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
“During the mobilization, our officers conducted seat belt patrols and impaired driving patrols, said Patrolman Kerry Brouyette. “Overall, we dedicated 31 hours of overtime toward the prevention of traffic-related injuries and fatalities on Indiana roadways.”
Motorists were cited not only for failing to wear a seat belt and failing to properly restrain child occupants, but various other traffic violations such as driving while suspended, failure to yield right of way, and speed.
There we also two impaired driving arrests, one possession of marijuana arrest and one outstanding warrant arrest for possession of precursors that were made during the enforcement period.
