Michiana Contracting to Turn On New Traffic Signals at Wal-Mart/K-Mart

October 30, 2011

10/31/11 Mike Delp from Michiana Contracting announced late Friday the new traffic signal on Oak Drive between the entrances to Wal-Mart and K-Mart is scheduled to be turned on this Wednesday, November 2nd between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

This a complex project and will require having the traffic signals on US 30 at Oak Drive shut down for several hours.  At 8 a.m. Michiana Contracting will begin work to change out the computerized control box.  During this time, traffic will be controlled with flagmen and a police presence for precaution.

After the traffic signal at Oak Road and US 30 is back up and running Michiana Contracting will move to the Wal-Mart/K-Mart signal to uncover them and get them operational.  Once this intersection is complete the company will work on the radio communication that will be the coordination between the two signals.

Delp said, “If all goes well I would hope to be completed with all work between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.

If weather is a factor on Wednesday the project will be delayed to Thursday with the same time schedule.

The final surface coat of asphalt was put down on Friday and new pavement markings are scheduled for Monday.
