Ancilla College Hosts Seventh Annual ‘Tri Ancilla’ Sprint Triathlon

DONALDSON – The 7th annual Tri Ancilla event was held on Saturday, June 6th, under sunny skies and warm temperatures. A field of 50 participants including 47 individuals and 1 relay team of three converged upon Ancilla College and The Center at Donaldson for an exciting day of competition.
Men and women, ranging in age from 16-80, participated in a 500 yard swim, 11 mile bike ride, and a 3.1 mile run that toured the Donaldson-based campus and surrounding areas.
“The Tri Ancilla event is bringing in new participants each year and makes for an enjoyable morning of racing on our beautiful campus grounds.  The planning committee and multiple volunteers all worked together to put on a well-organized and enjoyable event,” said Todd Zeltwanger, vice-president of Development at Ancilla College.
“Proceeds from the event are put into our student scholarship and tuition assistance programs.  This money directly benefits students who want to earn a college degree. My thanks to all who helped to make the day go so smoothly,” Zeltwanger said.
Zeltwanger acknowledged the special efforts of Brad Serf, Pete Colan and Don Allen whom he referred to as “key components of the planning committee.”
He also commended the organizational efforts of Susie Black and the Ministry Center Services staff at The Center at Donaldson for “working very hard to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for participants and spectators alike.”
Prizes were awarded to the top male and female finishers, as well as the 1st thru 3rd place winners of the various age groups.
On the men’s side, the overall winner was Steven Galat.  First place winners by age group included: Male 13 to 19 –Thomas Shaw; Male 25 to 29 – Nigel Bosch ; Male 30 to 34 –Charles Grace; Male 35 to 39 –Ralph Nurse; Male 40 to 44 –Paul Mitoraj; Male 45 to 49 – Glenn Maenhout Male 50 to 54 –Brad Harris; Male 55 to 59 –Kirk Robinson; Male 60 to 64 –Jeff Miller; Male 65 to 69 –Don Ransome; Male 70-74 –Fred Hemsath and 80 to 84 –William Pauley.
On the women’s side, the overall winner was Shanna Bonnell.  Winners by age group included: Female 30 to 34 –Tanja Pritchard; Female 35 to 39 –Brooke Nack; Female 40 to 44 –Ann Barker; Female 45 to 49 – JoAnn Kennedy; Female 55 to 59 –Tamara Shuler; Female 60 to 64 –Jean Anne Yackshaw
