PA Truck Drive Found Dead in Semi at Pilot Truck Stop

December 11, 2012

12/12/12 Marshall County Coroner Bill Cleavenger has released the trucker found dead in his semi parked at the Pilot Truck Stop at US 30 and 9A Road Tuesday morning.

Tuesday morning just before 9 a.m. the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was called for a male subject who was found not breathing in a truck parked out back of the truck stop.

Plymouth Paramedics were dispatched to the scene and verified the death at which time Marshall County Coroner Bill Cleavenger and Deputy Coroner Les Trump were dispatched.

Western Express, headquarters in Nashville used their GPS locater and noticed that the truck had not moved in three days and they became concerned and made a call to have the vehicle checked.  That is when 61 year old Bruce G. Garrett of Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania was located.

Cleavenger said evidence showed that Garrett had started his truck at 4:38 a.m. on Saturday and a short time later began to pull out from his parking space.  At 4:53 he backed the truck back into the parking space and turned off the motor.

Bruce Garrett appears to have died of natural causes from some type of medical issue.   No autopsy is scheduled on this case.
