Turkey Trot 5K November 29th

November 12, 2013

11/13/13 Meagan Rioux, a senior this year at The Culver Academies is hosting a Turkey Trot fundraising run this Thanksgiving.

Rioux has started a non-profit organization called Confiance Dance that allows kids the opportunity to take dance classes regardless of their financial situation. Rioux is currently working on expanding this program to South Bend, Valparaiso and Plymouth with future plans to have this program spread all across America.  Currently she is working with kids from the Culver community offering them class at the Beach House on Tuesday and Thursdays every week. She is also working to offer Culver the opportunity of the performing arts by creating events to raise money for a dance studio/performing arts center. The money raised as a result of the 5K will be used to purchase this center.  One of the first events is a Turkey Trot scheduled to take place on Friday, November 29th.

The race will be held the morning after Thanksgiving in the Culver downtown area.

Registration can be done both online and before the race. Registration is $10 along with any donation one would like to contribute. Participants can register at http://confiancedance.com or http://www.racesonline.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=public.race_detail&race_id=17668

All Proceeds will go towards the opening of a dance studio/Performing Arts Center. This event will be annual and all profits from the event will be decided by the town of Culver.
