Argos High School Announce Valedictorian & Salutatorian

   05/30/12 Anthony (Tony) S. Hutchinson, son of Scott and Julie Hutchinson, has earned the distinction of being named the Valedictorian of Argos High School’s Class of 2012.  Anthony has earned a 4.217 on a 4.0 scale.

Tony has been active in numerous school organizations and activities during his four years at Argos Jr.-Sr. High School.  He has participated in many Fine Arts activities including Pep Band, Marching Band, Variety Shows and Musicals (most recently starring as Teyve in Fiddler on the Roof).  He has been involved in National Honor Society, Junior Honor Society, Quiz Bowl, Library Assistant as well as serving as the Manager for the Boys Basketball Team.  Tony has also served as Treasurer for his class for three years.

Tony represented Argos Jr.-Sr. High School at the Richard Lugar’s Symposium for Tomorrow’s Leaders as well as District and State Vocal and Ensemble Competitions and State Academic Quiz Bowl Competition.  He also was selected to be a member of Indiana All State Honor Choir for three years and won the Americanism Competition.  He also earned All Conference for Academic Quiz Bowl.

Tony has volunteered for various community organizations including Church of Jesus Christ Vacation Bible School, Argos Friends of the Library, True Love Waits Program, Argos Garden Courts, Church of Jesus Christ Youth Group, Community Choir, Church of Jesus Christ Praise Band, Hope Ministries, and Red Cross Blood Drive.  He has also shared his vocal talents at numerous venues singing the National Anthem.

Tony has received the following awards:  Outstanding Student Winner in Spanish I Spanish II, Spanish III, Spanish IV, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Government and Economics as well as Gold Award Winner for Solo and Ensembles, Best Male Vocalist, Best Actor Award, Arion Award, Academic Honors Diploma, Honor Roll, and Academic Excellence Award

He also has received the following scholarships: Indiana University Carmack OEM Match Music Scholarship, Indiana University Excellence Scholarship, Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Marion Crawley Scholarship, Maxinkuckee Players Scholarship and Argos Dollars for Scholars Valedictorian Scholarship.

Tony plans to attend Indiana University in Bloomington where he will study History or Music Education.

   Keri A. Bair, daughter of Kent and Teri Bair, has earned the distinction of being named the Salutatorian of Argos Jr.-Sr. High’s Class of 2012.  Keri has earned a 4.179 on a 4.0 scale.

Keri has been active in numerous school organizations and activities during her four years at Argos Jr.-Sr. High School.  She was a member of Argos Students in Service serving as Treasurer and Vice President, Future Educators in Action, and Sunshine Society serving as Treasurer and President.  She has been involved in Junior Honor Society, National Honor Society of which she served as President as well as serving as her class President for two years. She also participated in 4-H for ten years and Forestry Judging including serving as a Forestry Coach her senior year.

Keri participated in basketball for two years and soccer and softball for four years, serving as captain for both sports.  Keri earned one varsity letter for basketball as well as the Mental Attitude Award.  Keri was a two year varsity letter winner for soccer, earning Mental Attitude Award, Defensive Award, NISC Second Team All Conference, All Academic Indiana Soccer Coaches Association Player for two years and Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association Academic All State.   She also was a four year varsity letter winner in softball receiving the Mental Attitude Award, Defensive Award and Most Valuable Player Award.

Keri has represented Argos Jr.-Sr. High School as winner of the DAR Award as well as the Wendy’s Heisman School Winner.  She also attended the Genetic Conference as well as numerous Forestry Invitationals as an Argos representative where she earned district and state awards.

Keri has volunteered for various community organizations including Red Cross Blood Drives, Sunshine Rake and Run, Argos Youth Soccer, Friends of the Argos Library, Dollars for Scholars, Drug Free Marshall County, 4-H and Old Gold.

Keri has received the following awards:  Outstanding Student in English 9, English 10, English 11, English 12AP, Geometry, Algebra II, Calculus, World History, US History, Government and Economics as well as Academic High Honors, Honor Roll, Academic Excellence Award and Academic Honors Diploma.

She also has received the following scholarships: Indiana 4-H Foundation Scholarship, Charles Bradley/Kiwanis Scholarship, ASIS Scholarship, Nellie Newhouse FEA Scholarship, Emma Redinger Scholarship, Tad VanDerWeele Scholarship, Helen and Gerald Hess Scholarship and Dollars for Scholars Salutatorian Scholarship.

Keri plans to attend Purdue University where she will study Pharmacy
