Valentine’s Day Celebration at Miller’s

02/16/12 Residents and staff of Miller’s Senior Living Community celebrated Valentine’s Day throughout the entire day the evening meal on Tuesday, February 14th.  The day began with dietary assistant chef Rhonda Rogers and Activity Director Cindy Flagg making red velvet pancakes for breakfast.  The aroma filled the facility and the pancakes were a real hit.

Throughout the day residents and staff worked on a Valentine Trivia Quiz and a Conversation Heart Candy guessing contest.  Winners were announced at the evening meal.  Residents winners were:  Alma Dennie, first; Shirley Apple, second; and June Koss, third.  Staff winners were:  Angie Rice, first; Carol Michael, second; and Tammy Raderstorf, third.  Jenny Wagers was the winner of the Conversation Heart Candy guessing contest.  She guessed the exact number of hearts in the jar which was 305.

The festivities continued with a lovely evening meal including shrimp cocktail, stuffed Alaskan Pollock, chocolate berry pie and wine. Each resident and guest received a Valentine favor of conversation hearts and a collectible heart-covered rubber duck.

Following dinner the Swing Sisters of South Bend entertained.  Gabriela and Judy performed a concert of romantic, fun and silly love songs in honor of Valentine’s Day.  Their song choices included “That’s Amore”, “I Love Me”, “Fascination”, “you, You, You” and “Sugar Time”.
