The Heartland Artists Gallery is pleased to present Watercolor Artist, Dan Slattery and Sculptor, Valerie Jean Schafer, September 1 – 25.
Dan practiced law for 18 years before pursuing his passion for watercolor professionally. Slattery uses control and detail to capture dramatic effects of light and color. His artwork has included portraits, landscapes and seascapes, as well as book and magazine illustration.
Valerie tends to take a less is more approach. She believes that by paring a thing down to its essence, the spirituality behind it is more easily revealed to the viewer. The simplicity of these forms, even those inspired by ancient American artifacts, evoke a sense of elegance with a decidedly contemporary feel.
The opening reception will be held on Saturday, September 11 from 6 – 8 PM. This event is FREE and open to the public.
