Van Vactor Injured in Motorcycle Crash

August 8, 2012

08/09/12 A Plymouth man is listed in stable condition following a motorcycle crash early Wednesday morning.

Marshall County Officer Nick Laffoon was on routine patrol Wednesday morning when he observed a motorcycle traveling west on Lincoln Highway just west of Rose Road at a very high rate of speed.  Officer Laffoon attempted to catch up to the vehicle and observed it run off the roadway in the area of Lincoln Hwy, near Union Road.

The driver, 34 year old Michael Van Vactor of Plymouth was apparently thrown from the motorcycle after it traveled off the road in a curve, went thought a grassy area and flipped several times.

Van Vactor was transported from the scene by Plymouth EMS and later flown by Medflight to Memorial Hospital in South Bend.

Officer Laffoon said the conclusion of this crash is still under investigation and charges are pending at this time.  Excessive speed and alcohol are believed to have been factors in the crash.
