“Coming Home: Honoring Our Indiana Heroes” at MoonTree Studios

October 18, 2012

10/19/12 MoonTree Studios in Donaldson presents “Coming Home: Honoring Our Indiana Heroes” this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This event celebrates a new alliance between MoonTree Studios, the Veteran’s Therapeutic Art Center (VTAC) and Ancilla College.   Events for the day include a silent auction of unique furniture art created by veterans at the MoonTree Studio to raise money for scholarships to allow veterans to take classes at MoonTree and to assist with the purchase of equipment for the studios.

Painted, mosaic and carved pieces of furniture including tables, chairs, cabinets and decorative accent pieces will be auctioned during Saturday’s event.

A memorandum of agreement between MoonTree Studios, Ancilla College and VTAC will be signed at noon.

Ancilla College was recently named to Victoria Media’s Military Friendly Schools list, which honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that do the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans and spouses as students and to ensure their success on campus.

There will be art demonstrations taking place in the clay and textile studios as well as the wood shop in the MoonTree Studios on Saturday. In the drawing and painting studio, the public can join the “hands-on” experience and help paint a large mural that will commemorate the partnership.

Refreshments are courtesy of Mancino’s Grinders and Pizza and music will be provided by the band Huckleberry Clamshell of Plymouth.
