Plymouth Selected at 2011 IN Volkssport & Hoosier Hikers Trail Event

November 4, 2010

11/05/10 This week Mr. Don Vartanian announced that Plymouth, Indiana has been chosen as one of the five stops on the 2011 Indiana Volkssport Association and the Hoosier Hikers Year Round Event Trail.  This year’s trail will follow the Lincoln Highway, a transcontinental road that was instrumental in the growth of the city.

The Plymouth trail will start at Christo’s Family Restaurant on North Michigan Street and continues for 10K as it heads south to Centennial Park, where it enters the park, crosses a covered bridge and wanders around several baseball fields to a walking path along the Yellow River.  It continues into town to view the old Lincoln Highway sign post at the Courthouse. From there it’s a short walk past the “Old Firehouse” around the corner to the main street of shops and the Marshall County Museum.  From the downtown area you see more of the old Lincoln Highway and return by the Michigan Road back to Christo’s.

Participants that complete the trail will be able to obtain a patch designating their walk in Marshall County.  Plymouth is one of five cities (Valpo, Plymouth, Warsaw, Columbia City and Fort Wayne) along the Lincoln Highway Walk for 2011.  If you complete all five walks you will be able to obtain another patch recognizing your participation.  There is a slight fee for the patch.
