Westafer Arrested for Shoplifting

  01/22/14  On Friday, January 17th at 2:59 P.M. Plymouth Police Officer Derek Workman was dispatched to Wal-Mart in reference to a female shoplifter who had been detained by Asset Protection employees. Arriving at the scene, it was advised by Wal-Mart employees that they had observed 28 year old Ashlee J. Westafer of Plymouth conceal items in her purse before exiting the store without paying for the items. Once outside the store Westafer was detained. 

Ashlee Westafer was taken into custody for theft and transported to the Marshall County Jail where she was booked in on a $1,505 cash bond.  She was later released Friday afternoon at 4:46 P.M. after posting bond.   Westafer received a Superior Court II date of February 25th for her initial hearing.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
