08/05/11 On Sunday, July 31st at approximately 9:22pm, a victim reported his 1988 Maroon, Chevy Silverado, dually with black flatbed stolen from the 13,000 block of State Road 331 in Bourbon. The truck was also identified as having a round “Ball Auction” sticker on both doors.
On Monday August 1st at approximately 7:20 p.m. Marshall County Patrolman Matt Brown spotted the truck while traveling west on Lincoln Highway near Pioneer Drive. Patrolman Brown turned around and attempted to catch up with the vehicle. In an attempt to elude the police, the driver of the stolen truck suddenly turned south off Lincoln Highway and traveled through the yard of a residence and continued south through a hayfield then west then west into a cornfield. The driver eventually crashed the truck into a tree on the south side of the cornfield.
Both occupants later identified as David J. Rupert 38, of Plymouth and John A. Willard 29, of Argos had fled the scene on foot. One of the subjects was apprehended when the Plymouth Police Departments k-9 located him hiding in the weeds near the railroad crossing on Pioneer Drive. The other subject was apprehended by state police on Deer Trail. An inventory of the vehicle was taken and a mobile meth lab was located.
Both male subjects were transported to the Marshall County Jail where they were booked in for resisting law enforcement, possession of a stolen vehicle, and Manufacturing Methamphetamines, with a no bond set at this time. A scheduled court appearance will be for both Willard and Rupert on August 30th at 8:30am, in Marshall County Superior Court #1.
