01/12/12 The Marshall County Emergency Management Office released the following weather warning Wednesday afternoon:

National Weather Service has issued a **Winter Storm Watch** which is in effect from Thursday afternoon through Friday evening.

Lake effect snow showers are expected to form late Thursday afternoon and persist through Friday evening. Portions of Northern Indiana, generally north of highway 6 could see between 8 to 12 in., while areas further south could see 4 to 8 in. In addition, strong, gusty west to northwest winds could cause limited visibility, and blowing and drifting of snow across roads may make driving hazardous.

If you are traveling, remember to give yourself extra time to reach your destination. Reduce your speed and increase your following distance from the vehicle in front of you. Be mindful of ice on bridges and overpasses.
Carry an emergency kit in your vehicle which should contain a cell phone and car charger, blanket, jumper cables, flashlight, small shovel, sand or cat litter, hats, boots, gloves, snacks, water, and a small first aid kit.
