12/07/11 The employees of Wrench General in Plymouth didn’t set out to beat a record, but they couldn’t be more pleased with the results of their oil change special day held on Saturday. For any donation, the business provided an oil change to customers. The donations totaling $1,845 from oil changes over a six hour period were given to the Marshall County Humane Society.
According to Service Writer Julie Wade, the previous record for the number of oil changes was 85. She said, “We did 148 this time, since both stores were involved.” Wrench General has locations on Jefferson Street and Michigan Street. Within four and one-half years, Wrench General has expanded to the 2 stores, 16 bays, 7 technicians, and 3 service writers.
Rick Kobold, who oversees the Wrench General operations, said, “With the weather turning cold, we knew the Human Society really needed help.” They have held similar fundraisers for New Song Church, Youth For Christ, and the Marshall County Neighborhood Center in the past.
Kobold attributes the success of the stores and the great turnout for the fundraiser to the generosity of the community. Also contributing to the fundraiser this past Saturday was Advanced Auto by donating oil filters.
