Argos Young Hoosier Book Readers Awarded

06/28/11 Mary Jackson, Librarian for the Argos Community Schools recently released information on the Young Hoosier Book Award.

The Young Hoosier Book Award is sponsored by the Indiana Library Federation’s Association of Indiana of School Librarians.  The books are organized by grade levels comprised of a 20-book list for grades K-3, grades 4-6 and grades 6-8.  Voting occurs throughout the state and the winning authors are presented with a Young Hoosier plaque at the organization’s annual conference.  Students must read at least 5 of the listed books to be eligible to vote.

The winning Argos students read all 20 books on the 4-6 list and 2 of the 7 read all 20 books on the 4-6 list and the 6-8 list.

These winners were treated to a trip to Barnes and Noble to select a book for themselves and to help select books for the Argos School Library, lunch at CiCi’s Pizza and a book-related movie.  These prizes were provided by the Argos PEP Club.
